Best mattress topper for a bad back?

Anyone have any recommendations please? I have a fairly new mattress but finding it painful as it's not firm enough. Osteoporosis so I don't want massively hard and not sure on memory foam but happy to be convinced. Anyone have any recommendations ?

I finally ended up with something medium (a pillow topped mattress). I didn't like the memory foam toppers at all but some do. Can you swap it? I swapped 3 times before I got it right.

I think not but thanks- will look at pillow topped as hadn't heard of that. Memory foam I find uncomfortable too. Mind you we had cheap ish memory foam maybe Tepur ( tempura?) would work if they do toppers.

A folded up downie under your sheet gives you the idea for the pillow topped one but you need something to make it firmer not softer ... go have a chat with a bed shop ... I was there for hours and back and forwards lol. There are all kinds of toppers out there - good luck!

Ah ok yes I think my brother gave us a really expensive but soft one ( for the same reason - it wasn't right for his back). It was down filled I think. I wonder if that was the same sort of thing.

I used to think hard was the way to go until I suddenly couldn't sleep on ours (orthopaedic one) and would get up with sore hips and shoulders. We swapped for a firm one (equally painful) then a medium which has been fine but might need to replace soon so going with the same again. We are all different but a good bed shop should be able to advise you and be sympathetic to finding you a good nights sleep. Maybe I should get a job in one lol

Thanks Yes good idea. Looked at Tempura toppers- £470 😯 but will go and have a chat with a shop and hopefully try some. It's hard to predict isn't it- we had a memory foam one that I found I got up from feeling like I'd been in a fight!
