Age of menopause does run in families. But that doesn't necessarily mean you are menopausal. However, because of associated risks of osteoporosis with early menopause, you might want to talk to your GP - you can have a blood test to check your hormone levels. do you know anything about age of menopause in other members of your family?

I hope that is the not case Pruni because I am much less tolerant as well. My mum did not go through the menopause until she was 57 but I have googled the symptoms and I do seem to have quite a lot!

Could be true Pruni - my mother and sisters were all early going through menopause and I was too (at 38).

I can't take caffeine anymore - you know why - I had a baby and quit it for nine months and my system just prefers me not to drink 20 cups of coffee on three hours sleep. It's ridiculous to think this is an indication of the menopause.

Do you have hot flushes, dry fanjo (don't answer, please ), mass urge to kill people (apart from your mum obviously) ???

No? Probably just that we all change as we get older then.

Yes - I agree with Essbee

Whilst i was going through the menopause I had no increased sensitivity to alcohol or caffeine!

And you still have a fair few years to go based on your family's experiences
