After months of agony I've been refered to the Hand clinic to see what can be done for my Carpal tunnel syndrome.
My G.P thinks I'll probably get this operation where they release the pressure on the nerve or something.
Anyway everyone I've spoken either seems to know someone who'd had it or a professional involved in this area and they all say "DONT"
I've been told, doesn't help, makes worse, is agony after etc.
Basically noone recommeds but no one has actually had it done themselves just know some one who has.
Has any one on MN had any experiance of this treatment.
Am I destined for a life of splints (which I take off in sleep)

I have nursed to many people to count having had this surgery and very few returned to follow up with problems. If you are being referred to the Hand clinic you can be confident you are seeing a hand surgeon, but it is always best to check, the doctor shouldn't offended and will be happy to explain his/her credentials.
Good luck

A friend had this done last year on one hand. Before going in, he told me that if it was too bad, he wouldn't have the other hand done.

Both hands now done.

Thanks
Good to hear positive feed back.
I think people always seem to know the horror stories but very few hear the good experiences.
I'll prob go for what ever is deemed best for my suituation.
Thanks again
