Hi
I would so greatful for any help any of you may be able to give to me.

I have thrush in my breasts from breastfeeding. It's been three weeks now and not clearing despite two courses of fluconazole 100mg daily bad using daktarin cream and treating baby. Also stopped breastfeeding :(

Anyone been on fluconazole for breath thrush? What dose did you need to shift it?

Many thanks xxx

Hi lookatthestars, I really feel for you, I had this twice and it is truly awful.
I eventually got rid of it after seeing a really great breastfeeding advisor. She is the person who wrote this leaflet for St. George's:
www.stgeorges.nhs.uk/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/48_Community+services+Wandsworth_Breastfeeding+with+thrush.pdf
I hope the link works as it is an invaluable treatment guide.
The dose is an initially 400mg loading dose then 200mg daily (so higher than you are on).
It is worth noting that GPs are not very comfortable prescribing this dosage and you should take the leaflet with you to show them. They might want to do some tests of liver function while you are taking it.
You should also take probiotics (lactobacillus - keep them in the fridge), be very careful with hygiene, put a cup of vinegar in the bath as well as in the washing machine, etc etc, to avoid reinfecting.
Good luck!

Wow thank you so much for this. I appreciate it so much! 😀It's really given me hope when I feel like I am running out options and feeling like I'll never get better.
Do you mind me asking, were you originally on a lower dose of fluconazole and it didn't work before you moved onto a higher dose?
Also did you have any side effects of the medication? I've been having all sorts of side effects (aches pain / dizziness etc) on the 100mg so apprehensive about a higher dose but definitely up for trying it. Fingers crossed the doctor will be on board with the treatment plan! I'll go to my appointment armed with the info you have me, thank you again so much xx
