and I've got to work tonight. It was a bit sore when I woke up on Saturday afternoon (worked Friday night), and hurt a bit at work on Saturday night. Was then painful when playing the organ and church - and now I still keep getting some discomfort when in certain positions. Friday night was pretty tough night - so quite stubborn (pulling on arms, leaning on me etc etc) residents so I could have hurt it a bit then.

However, it's directly in the line with the bottom of my ribs on my RHS where I've got almost constant pain from DC3's positioning causing bruising under the ribs. So it could be linked to that pain - in which case I'll just have to put up with it for a few more months.

Thing is I'm supposed to be working tonight. If it is just pregnancy related then I'll just have to live with it and get on as usual, but if I have tweaked my back at work I don't really want to risk making it worse..

So what should I do - should I call in sick saying I've hurt my back (and then discover in 2 weeks time while sat happily at home on Mat leave than actually it was "one of those things") or do I go to work and take the chance??

I would call in sick, you deserve to rest whether it is a back thing or just a pregnancy thing

I agree with TR. Have a rest

Phone in sick.

You can't be to careful with your back. Whether it a pulled muscle or a pregnancy thing you need to rest.

well I've called - manager answered - she wasn't thrilled that I'd "left it it bit late" (to call in) - but that's tough sh*t really

Isn't it supposed to be easier to hurt your back in pregnancy and that you have to be more careful?

Something to do with things being looser and more supple to accomodate the baby.

I'm sure I remember something about all this, cos I had terrible sciatica in one pregnancy and was told this.

Agree - rest and take care.
