my mum has bern having problems for a while now, severe headaches, vision problems, weird feelings in her legs, and a few times her legs have give way on her, shes still young, late 50's.
anyway shes been the doctors a few times, she got referred to a specialist optician that detected a swelling behind her eyes. went back the doctor's and was referred for a ct scan, booked for September. this was in march.
my mums headaches were getting worse so i went the doctors again with her, saw a different doctor and was referred straight away for a ct scan, the results came back the same day and they have said there is a problem with her pituitary gland, she has got to go for a detailed mri scan this weekend . they havent said what the problem is.
im trying be positive for my mum as shes a worrier, but tbh im worried sick.
has anybody had any experience of pituitary gland problems?

I have a relative who had a pituitary gland tumour in her 20s. As far as I know they're usually benign - hers certainly was - but it had been pressing on her optic nerve, affecting her sight, which is why she reported it.

She had it removed, and I believe she was put on some kind of HRT thereafter.

She's now in her late 60s and it's had very little effect on her life. She's fit and well and her only complaint is that she has to remember to take her pills.

I hope your mum's problem is diagnosed quickly and that you have positive news very soon Flowers
