Minor Hand Surgery/Mole Removal

I went to my GP about 2 weeks ago in regards to a mole on my hand... doctor wasn't happy about it so had an emergency referral to a dermatologist.

My mum had a melanoma years back which was removed although hers was on her back.

Saw the dermatologist last week, ended up with 5 specialists in the room fascinated by this mole Grin and they've said although it's low risk of being cancerous, they'd like to remove it for research purposes as all 5 put together have seen very few moles like mine.

I have agreed.

It's a case of cutting/digging it out and restitching, but my appointment letter hasn't really given me any aftercare instructions like it usually does when I've been for other minor ops or procedures!

I know it's going to be stitched back up, but it's more how long am I not allowed to drive for, getting it wet and if I may need to take time off... Because I now have to inform my boss that I'll be in hospital on my day off.

I'm a receptionist/administration support for a car dealership... it's on my right hand which is what I write with, use for the computers etc etc. So don't know if I'll be limited or not!

Has anyone had this or similar?
