I think I have a lipoma

There's been a lump on my forehead growing for the past few weeks. It seemed to come out of nowhere and was very small to begin with and couldn't be seen, just felt, but it's steadily growing bigger and it's noticeable now.

From what the NHS website says it seems to be a lipoma rather than a cyst but it also says that they won't remove it on the NHS.

I don't suppose there's a way of making it shrink?! Why is it even there in the first place?

The only solution is to see a doctor. To be honest no one on here can tell you much about it. Hopefully the doc will have sort it out for you.

I have a lipoma. When I saw my GP he said that they would only remove it if it caused me discomfort or had an impact on my day to day life. I would suggest that as it's in a visible area you could ask for removal on the grounds that it could negatively impact your mental health, therefore affecting you daily life? Definitely worth discussing with them.

I hope you're right and that because it's so visible and seems to be growing relatively quickly they'll remove it for me. I'd rather have it removed soon and have a little scar then let it merrily go on growing and then have a whopping big Harry Potter scar on my head.

I would have thought a lipoma was unlikely on your forehead, they tend to grow in areas with fatty tissue.
