...Go to the school disco this afternoon? dd1 is 5 and was so looking forward to going. she's really perked up this morning and is eating.

well, what dyou think? is it totally outrageous to even consider it?

btw, her dads on the pta and is supposed to be helping to run it. i have other committments today. its going to be really hard for him to go and help unless she goes too.

what would you do?

id send her if she seems fine and keeps her food down.
she must go! i remember the excitement as if it was yesterday!

nickytwotimes · 24/03/2007 10:29

send her. kids get over things quickly sometimes

zippitippitoes · 24/03/2007 10:29

if she is fine all morning then let her go but bear in mind she might be ill and need to come home unexpectedlya dnb so can only go if that would be possible

noonar · 24/03/2007 10:31

thnaks folks, i wasnt really worried about her, cos i think she'll be ok, its more about the risk to other children.

How many times was she sick?
If it was just a one off & you don't think it's a tummy bug & she now seems fine, then I don't see why not. However, if she was quite poorly in the night & you do feel it was a bug, then she can still pass it onto other children.
In our school, you must keep children off school for 24 hours following sickness because of the risk of infecting others.

nickytwotimes · 24/03/2007 10:34

kids are always surrounded by germs anyway . unless there is one there who is proper poorly, ie immunosupressed cos of chemo or something, don't worry

noonar · 24/03/2007 10:34

thanks pink. she was sick 3 times over the course of an hour or 2.

If she's ok now and later, then yes I would let her go. Kids sometimes just do these things don't they? THey get sick in the night and you'd never know by the next day.

noonar · 24/03/2007 10:47

pink i'm actually normally very strict about seeing people after an illness, but with SO many others there, i think that our germs will be in good company, iyswim.

I am going to go against the grain here and say no I wouldn't go to be honest.
These sickness bugs spread like wild fire and not fair on everyone else.

SSShakeTheChi · 24/03/2007 11:02

No, I wouldn't take her if she'd vomitted the night before.

Pinkchampagne · 24/03/2007 11:07

It sounds likely that she did have a bit of a bug if she was sick 3 times, so she is likely to still be infectious, even though she is now seeming much better in herself.
If it was a normal school day, I imagine you would be asked to take her home again (we do in our school), because of the 24 hour rule.
