Diastasis Recti: Belly Binding

Please could I get some feedback from mummys who have had diastasis recti? My hospital physio has told me to wear a belly binder but my post natal Pilates physio told me to take it off. Has anyone had experience wearing one? Did it help/have no effect/make things worse? I'm getting desperate now - I'm 11 weeks pp and I look 4 months pregnant! I have 6cm gap in the centre of my abs and have been doing my tummy exercises 2-3 times per day for 7 weeks now!

The binder (or corset) is used to encourage the muscles towards their old positions. Properly taught Pilates also does this. Can't the two be combined? Ie using the binder and also the exercises? What has the hospital physio advised?

Tummy exercises. Who gave them to you? Not sit ups I hope? Some cases do require surgery.

The hospital physio and PN Pilates physio both gave me the exercises - nothing like sit-ups of course or anything that makes the stomach bulge. I'm just a little surprised that after so many weeks and several exercises reps per day I'm not improving at all? My stomach looks ridiculous! I'm slim everywhere else except this ginormous bulging belly!

Have they suggested a timescale before considering surgery? Can you increase reps after getting them to check you are actually doing exercises correctly?
