Shingles \ Pain on right hand side, fed up!

I'm struggling so much with my health at the moment. I had an asthma attack which landed me in hospital a few weeks ago and had two weeks of high dose steroids. During that time I caught shingles...!

The scabs have crusted over now but I am suffering with deep pain where my appendix / side of stomach is on the front (scabs / shingles rash were on the back of this side). In a panic I have been to the gp who examined me and says it isn't appendicitis. But this pain is making me miserable!

I have no other symptoms - urine etc all okay, doesn't hurt to touch the area, just random deep stabbing pain. I keep taking ibuprofen and paracetamol and I am assuming it must be part of shingles!

How long is this going to go on for? Really down with it all. Sad

Hi hunny sorry to hear about your health. Ibuprofen and paracetamol tend not to do much for nerve pain. Have you talked to your doctor about possibly prescribing something for the nerve pain such as Gabapentin, Pregabalin or Amitryptiline?

Thank you for your reply.

Maybe I should go back to the doctors then and ask for something like that. I haven't been offered anything other than paracetamol etc.

They really should have offered you something for nerve pain, Have you tried specifically asking for something to help with nerve pain or did they ask what kind of pain you had? Paracetamol isn't too good for nerve pain so I would definitely go back and talk to your GP x
