I have to go for an endoscopy soon and i am really scared.
Basically had a phobia of vomitting all my childhood, and although i am over that now the thought of someone putting a tube down my throat terrifies me.
I know they will use a light sedative, and my gp has suggested a diazepam the night before.
As a student nurse i assisted with these.I was only 18 and i remember too well how horrible it looked .
I just want someone to tell me i wont feel hear or remember anything !
Also will i have to wait for the results or will they tell me there and then ?
many thanks

I've only had one from the other end! But the sedatives definitely work - I tried to keep alert because I was interested to see my insides , but I can't remember a thing...

Oh thanks.Have no intention of taking a peek at my insides tho`. Would happily have a genera; anaesthetic !
Thanks again.

I had one recently and was absolutely terrified. Cried like a baby when I was told I had to have one done and cried on the way in, but then the next thing I know it was an hour later! Don't remember anything at all and I honestly wouldn't be at all scared if I had to have another one. I just woke up feeling sleepy - no pain, no memory of having it done. Good luck!!

They will probably give you some medazolam intravenously which is effectively rohypnol-I promise you will not remember a thing.

I had one a year or two back, and it was fine. No pain, no discomfort, nothing

I imagine the results thing varies a lot from place to place. I got mine more or less right away, but I wouldn't read anything into it if you don't

Best of luck

Tjanks everyone.
Am much more relaxed about it now and will take the sedation gratefully z
