Glandular fever- will I get signed off?

Pretty much just that. Anyone had any experience? If so how long were you signed off for?

I'm in Spain, but, I was signed off with EBV in 2 week stints, until I got better. Ended up being a month.

I was signed off in the UK previously when I had an unknown virus which seemed similar. Again, two week stints. Had a month for that one.

Not at all. Had strep throat March '94, off for a few days and returned to work. Went to GP in the Oct with crushing tiredness, bloods showed I'd had GF and not known. Knackered for next two years but no time off.

Probably, it is really important with GF to rest and allow your body time to heal. If you try to push through it then you will likely be prolonging the illness. I was also signed off in 2 week stints for about a six weeks. I probably could have reduced that to five if I hadn't tried going back to work after the first two weeks!

Doc in Spain said it was vital I had time off as I had an enlarged spleen.
It's really important to rest.
