Hi All

Can you take paracetemol with sudafed?

Got the most yucky sinus thing going on - nose won't stop running yellow goo and eye, tooth area is so painful.

Taking sudafed but it's not touching it really.

Can i take paracetemol too? The instructions don't say either way.

Thanks in advance and sorry for TMI on the yellow snot!

Which one are you taking? They do loads and I think some have paracetamol in them...

Hillary · 21/03/2007 18:47

You can take paracetamol with anything else that doesnt also contain paracetamol.

littleEasterlapin · 21/03/2007 18:48

also, try gently steaming your head with Vicks or Olbas oil or similar... I get sinus headaches and a head steam always helps.

amynnixmum · 21/03/2007 18:49

You can take ibuprofen with it if its one of the ones that contains paracetamol

littleEasterlapin · 21/03/2007 18:50

Congestion Cold and Flu, and Dual Relief, contain paracetamol, and Dual Relief Max has ibuprofen.

Paddlechick666 · 21/03/2007 19:22

thanks all.

it's Sudafed Non-Drowsy psuedoephedrine hydrochloride

says nothing about paracetemol anywhere on the box or the leaflet inside.

Is it just the nasal decongestant one with the little red pills?

Paddlechick666 · 21/03/2007 19:30

yes that's one.

assuming red pills are also compatible with red wine LOL

OP posts:
amynnixmum · 21/03/2007 19:32

I have taken paracetamol with those (and red wine)

littleEasterlapin · 21/03/2007 19:33

Here's the ingredients .

Make with the painkillers

And steam your head!

Paddlechick666 · 21/03/2007 19:36

thanks ladies, you're both stars!

it does say avoid alchohol but hey, it's medicinal LOL.

i won't take anymore tonight but will take paracetemol before bed.

when you get to the yellow snot stage and still in pain you shoud go get antibiotics, its ok to take paracetamol and ibuprofen!

Paddlechick666 · 21/03/2007 19:47

clayre, really? it only started last night and i asked the pharmacist what i should do.

was going to go the sudafed route for a day or two and see how things panned out.

is this sort of thing infectious or d'you just "get" it?

OP posts:
Paddlechick666 · 22/03/2007 07:56

well, the sudafed and red wine seemed to do the trick!

nose is all clear and the awful ache in my jaw and eye is gone!

obviously falling asleep on the sofa at 9pm must've helped.

so much for psuedoephedrine being an ingredient for speed!

littleEasterlapin · 22/03/2007 08:20

No, I think you'll find that through the power of the internetweb, you sent it to my house...

Can you take that Sudafed stuff if you're BFing?

Paddlechick666 · 22/03/2007 08:23

oops sorry

i did do a bit of a wicca chant thing alongs the lines of "begone! begone! evil yellow snot begone!"

erm, the usual caveats on the instructions regards bf. tbh, if dd was still bf i wouldn't take it.

but really, as with all these things, it's trace amounts isn't it.

your call i guess...........

OP posts:
littleEasterlapin · 22/03/2007 08:33

Oh bolleaux, better just steam the head then

Paddlechick666 · 22/03/2007 09:07

poor you - it's horrid isn't it.

i'm still producing the yellow stuff which is attractive!

Yeuk!

Oh well, better take DS to toddler group and probably catch ANOTHER cold!

Paddlechick666 · 22/03/2007 17:02

d'you know i never appreciated how healthy i was before having dd!

hope you're feeling a bit better now. i had to resort to another sudafed earlier when my cheeks started feeling really sore again.
