Osteoporosis. What can I start doing before my doctor's appointment?

Hospital have just told me I have it, due not only to age, but a long term medication i take. Ive been told to see my gp, but what steps can I take before that?

Extra calcium, vitamin d. I have osteopenia so not quite as bad as you but still enough for a no trauma fracture. I've been told high impact exercise but I'd see the dr before I did that. I've bought ankle weights and wrist weights for additional resistance.

yoga. I once read that pressure on your wrist stimulates overall bone growth.
