Fungal Nail Infections, advice needed

I have had a nail infection on the toes on my right foot since finding out I was pregnant. My son is now two and a half, but still breastfeeding a little bit. I've had some paint on stuff, which I've used religiously for months but it's having no effect.
My ds hardly breastfeeds, he just has a comfort suckle now and again, but the doctor wont give me the strong stuff.
I don't know what to do, my foot is revolting, and I can't see ds stopping BF anytime soon. Do I lie and say I've stopped, what would this stuff do to ds if he got a little bit in milk, does anyone know???

My DH has had a dodgy toenail for about 6 mths and been on tablets from the docs (he's now on to his second type as the first didn't work). To be honest I think they are quite strong as DH was told after 6mths to have a blood test to make sure they hadn't affected his liver function (they hadn't but we were a bit surprised that they were that strong and might have this affect). I guess it does depend on what your given by the doc. I'm sure I've seen (though haven't tried) some tea tree preperation for fungal nail/foot infections in a health food shop (tried to get DH interested in it with no luck) can't remember the make (lime coloured box - one of the main brands of tt oil). Good luck

I do know the pills are strong, I just wondered what you'd do if your child got nail infection, wouldn't they have to take them??
Getting fed up I want to wear flip flops this summer.

Sorry can't really help much more - perhaps someone will be along soon who knows a bit more.
