Nasty Boil dressing (bit gross)

I suffer from boils and a couple of days ago a really nasty one came up right near my bikini line. It was like a volcano of blood and puss waiting to erupt and the pain was immense. I used warm compresses for a couple of days and thankfully last night it burst.

The smell was vile I must admit, but the pressure relief felt good. I cleaned it gently and covered with a gauze.

Just had a shower and washed it again, it feels much better but is still leaking gunk and doesn't smell great. I have a clean bandage on it which I will change again this evening.

Hubby said this is fairly normal and nothing to worry about, I have health anxiety and turn any symptom into a tragedy- do you think I should go to the docs? He said it takes days to heal it won't miraculously be fine as it was a nasty boil. The smell worries me though and it's (less but still) tender around the boil. I feel ok in myself.

Opinions please Smile

It seems like you're already doing the right thing, according to the NHS website. Unless you have any symptoms of further complications, I'd just leave it for now and see the doctor if it doesn't improve in a few days or gets worse.
