why am i so thirsty?

for the past weeks or so ive been drinking loads (mainly sugar free squash) last night i went to bed at 12.30 and i got uo 4 times in the night and drank 4 pint glasses of the stuff , i just has 2 more when i got up its really driving me mad because im weeing all the time obviously, but im soo thirsty and i dont no why can anyone help please nikki xxxxxxxxxxxx

You're right gingernut, weight loss is likely to be pronounced in undiagnosed Type 1 than Type 2 diabetes as the blood sugar levels get a lot higher & the onset is much more acute than Type 2 which can rumble along undetected for quite some time.

Nikcola, I asked about the opp because I lost a bit of blood after the birth of dd. Not quite enough for a transfusion but almost. . .and I was THIRSTY!!!!!! I drank 4 liters of water in about an hour, and I'm the sort of person who never drinks much water. I guess it was my body trying to make more blood. Just wondering if you had something similar.

But in rereading yr first post. . you say this has been going on for weeks, so it sounds like something more chronic than that, eg diabetes. WK is right about not needing needles; I wasn't thinking. . .Hope you're going to get it checked out.
