Can anyone help DP been in pain with ear since last week. Has used ear wax remover drops from Boots and lay on hot water bottle last night. This dislodged a bit which looked white and came out in flaky pieces. I could see a congealed lump of this this am in his ear but it seemed to have gone back down this eve. Doctors receptionist said docs don't syringe anymore. Any advice as he in pain and deaf in that ear and i am sick of him moaning. Thanks

re the children with ear wax problems

we had this with dd for ages (did the olive oil drops, then other drops and nothing happened)

eventually, we saw an ENT and they took out a suction device (like a long, thin hoover) and they put it in the ear and suck out the big, hard lumps of wax. It was fascinating watching - took only a few minutes and her hearing improved straight away!!

so if you still have problems, ask for a referral and get that done!

Wax came out of mine but one remained deaf and only the syringing restored the hearing. If he's in pain he may need antibiotics as well.
