How long after pre-op did you get an operation date?

Just that really. I'm in for a pre-op tomorrow and I've no idea how long the wait will be for the operation or even how long the wait will be to find out an operation date.

What do you mean by a pre-op? If its an assessment, I had one about 2 weeks before an operation. It has to be fairly close, otherwise the results may be nowhere near your statistics on the day

I had mine on the Friday for an op on the Tuesday.... I didn't think they did them until an op date was booked...

I've had no indication of a date yet. I'm hoping they may be able to give me one today.

For the actual date of the surgery for me depends on whether there is a waiting list the type of operation you are having and and sometimes on the surgeon. (I've had surgery which anyone in the team could perform perhaps with supervision and others which had to be done by the consultant him/herself.) So sometimes just a few days later or months. even if there is a waiting list I expect to get the appointment date in the post pretty fast.

I had one and after a couple of months I hadn't heard anything. I was expecting quite a long wait for the surgery but for the appointment to come through pretty quickly so I chased and they said how about coming next week which luckily was fine.

I had my pre op assessment in November 2017, but it looks like I'm not having my op until at least February/March 2018. But the nurse gave me my blood forms, so that I could get them done 6 days before my op.

I could give you a couple of pages of ranting and raving on this. I had an atrocious experience with the Churchill Hospital in Oxford earlier this year. I had the laparoscopy and preop, and the op should have been 2 weeks later (timing was v impt). No-one answered the phone or responded to messages, I got fobbed off and fobbed off and ignored. I had to go private in the end. I made a formal complaint and got fobbed off again.

Keep pushing and and asking and telephoning until you get somewhere.

Well I had my pre op assessment mid September but still waiting on an op date. Last time I rang the admissions department I was told I was not on the December list and would most likely be next year before I get a date, but I’d have to ring back in December as they don’t have next years list!

I’ve been trying to call them since beginning of December but can’t get through to them.
