I've had a sore throat for weeks now....been using difflam spray and paracetamol.
Gave up on Monday and went to Dr
She dx tonsilitis as I had huge glands.in my neck and she said she saw pus (i didnt see any)
I finished the tablets today.
My throat is still red raw and my ear is now very painful
Added to that i have a water infection too and am on antibiotics for that too
Dr said to go back if no better and.i would be referred to ENT
This has scared me
What does she think is wrong?
Does She think it's serious?
I have has hayfever this year quite badly...could this cause a bad sore throat?
I'm very fed up and worried

Hi Badders.
Do you smoke or tend to get lots of bugs?
I don't think you should be alarmed. They will sort you, just not as quickly as some people get sorted.

My main hayfever symptom is sore throat. My glands actually hurt with it too X maybe try some antihistamine. Took me weeks to finally work out it was hayfever. I missed a tablet yesterday and my throat is raw again today.

Hi I'm not a smoker...never have been
I've been taking an anti histamine for weeks and it doesn't seem to have helped :(

Do go back.
You probably need a swab taken to get the correct antibiotic.
Gargling with warm salt water can soothe things a bit.

Might be worth trying a different antihistamine, if you haven't already. I took loratidine for a while and then it became ineffective so switched to cetirizine. A nasal spray might also help, again if you haven't tried one already, as it will prevent some of the pollen getting into you in the first place.

Back to dr tomorrow as I still have the water infection too I think...
Sigh.
I will ask re allergies, thanks

Badders123 · 11/06/2017 15:59

We'll tbh that's what out me off goingnin the first place...I just thought she would shrug and say...."and!"
But she did look and said she saw pus and asked me a few questions.
No idea if the a
