Just how bad is the dizziness/grogginess/spaced outness). I'm about to start 5mg. Any other side effects to be aware of?

OP posts:

I'm on it and don't have any problems. I initially found it messed with my sleep a bit (what doesn't!) but was told to tasks it an hour before bedtime which stopped it interfering.

Read the side effects and then forget them. Its good stuff.

Only issue I had was dry mouth

Ekphrasis · 08/06/2017 20:59

It seems to be fine for some and not for others. I never woke up from it. Apparently if on thyroxine it can cause issues (I am). I know others who barely noticed it.

5mg is such a small dose, shouldn't think you'll get many side effects at all! I'm on 20mg (still very small dose!) and do feel groggy in mornings! (But I get such a lovely night sleep! I don't mind!!)

TheFairyCaravan · 08/06/2017 23:32

I started off on 10mg and am now on 100mg. I've always had to take it at about 7:30 otherwise I've got no hope of waking up in the morning.

If I have to get up mega early I take it at about 5:30pm. It knocks me right out.

Watching with interest.
DD has just been prescribed this at low doses for CFS.
I used it for CFS sleep patterns 10 years ago, only side affect was a majorly dedicated tongue.

TwoGhostsGoToWar · 08/06/2017 23:40

How bad IMHO it's horrific, it knocks you out as soon as it hits your blood stream and leaves you with a very dry mouth.

If you are prescribed it for neuropathic pain, it works wonders. It is one of the old tricyclic antidepressants but rarely used for that now SSRIs are available.

Ohthepressure · 11/06/2017 12:22

I took 25mg to deal with sciatica pain, and it was awesome, did the job and I noticed no side effects.

AW22 · 21/06/2017 17:07

I took 10mg as an antidepressant years ago and it caused me severe dizziness and I passed out twice while taking it- then stopped for another medication. We are all different so I hope you will be fine. Best of luck and go steady just go be safe. Xxxx
