DS in hospital

Hi all, just wanted to have a moan. My poor little ds has been in hospital for three days and is staying tonight as well. He has an infection just above his eye, and needs lots of antibiotics to clear it up. They weren't sure what caused it but think now it was a spider bite. I've spend the last 2 nights sleeping in hospital with him, and thought he was coming home today, but he has to stay again. All of this on our holiday!

Are you in the UK? Scary stuff. I hope he recovers very soon.

SoupDragon · 10/07/2004 13:07

Oh I hope he's better soon!! I've done the "child in hospital on holiday" bit recently and its horrible.

If it's any consolation, DS1 (5) thinks he was lucky enough to have 2 holidays - one in the hospital and one where were were meant to be. He forgot all about the nasty, needley, hurting bits really quickly.

CountessDracula · 10/07/2004 13:11

Oh Bouj your poor ds and poor you I really hope he's better soon. Quick, get back to the UK where you don't have to worry about spiders!!!

Well we are out!! Three nights, four days and lots of antibiotics. We are in Australia, and they believe it was a white-tailed spider bite (don't look at a picture of them - they are not friendly looking!!) But it all looks good. He was a little trooper, I am really proud of him. We've got one week left of our holiday, and then we've all got to brave the flight again! Thanks all for you good wishes. xoxoxo

Bouj,

Just read this thread. So sorry to hear about your little one! Glad that he's out of the hospital. Hope the rest of your holiday is lovely!

Hulababy · 11/07/2004 11:53

Hope he is okay this morning bouj.

fairyfly · 11/07/2004 11:56

How frightening, what a nightmare, really hope you manage to enoy the rest of your holiday

Marina · 11/07/2004 13:32

Oh, what bad luck, Bouj. I'm so sorry.
Hope he is fully recovered soon.
The spider situation has actually stopped me visiting friends in Oz, I have a problem even with the UK variety.
BTW ladies you do realise that all spiders bite? It's just the UK's species' jaws are too weak to penetrate human skin...

Cam · 11/07/2004 20:29

I didn't know that Marina, and I was even scared of the woman dressed as a spider in a stage production of Charlotte's web!

SoupDragon · 11/07/2004 21:25

essbee's been bitten by a UK spider, Marina!!

SoupDragon · 11/07/2004 21:25

Glad your DS is OK now, Bouj

Paula71 · 12/07/2004 01:36

Marina, I am right there with you!

I am not particularly scared of spiders but when I lived in America ten years ago I was bitten on the hand by a brown recluse spider. Since then I have hated spiders and the thought of visiting a country where there are a whole list of spiders just waiting to sink their fangs into me! Brrrrrr!

Paula71 · 12/07/2004 01:37

Ooops and hope your ds is okay now, Bouj! Poor babe!

Marina · 12/07/2004 12:19

OMG Soupy, I remember now. Poor EssBee! And you too Paula, yikes.
