Tinnitus

Had it for years. Never really been much of a problem i've just got on with it. Not sure if it has got worse or if i've just been noticing it more but it appears to be louder as of late and thus quite stressful at times. Had all the tests done when first diagnosed decafes ago. Anyone else luve with the bastard?

I've had tinnitus for years as well and yes it seems extra loud at times. I have a constant high pitched noise in my ears which can be maddening at times.

I also have some high frequency hearing loss and should wear my hearing aids. I haven't done so recently as I often get earache in my right ear.

So instead I have subtitles on most programmes to stop having to rewind as I haven't caught everything or annoy neighbours with a really loud TV. Too many mumblers in a lot of programmes unfortunately and it doesn't help when the tinnitus has gone into overdrive.

Besides your tinnitus do you have any other hearing issues?

Thanks for your response. As far as I have known my hearing is pretty good/no obvious issues normally. I have vague memories in the early years of having it that once every ie 6 months or so one of my ears would have a blocked sensation (it wasn't though as I would go and get it checked) which would make the noises WORSE like having a cold. Fortunately it would clear in a week or a few days. Sitting in a quiet hospital room with dd who has a small op today, I've been straining to hear what the anaesthetist and dr were saying due to vague blocked feeling/LOUD buzzing. Very stressful/anxiety inducing. I'm really hoping it is one of those weird phases that will pass. I have had tinnitus for over 20 years and barely give it a thought I just accept it and get on with it but suddenly it does seem noticeably louder and has done for a few weeks. Perhaps some weird viraly thing?
