Ds, who is 9yo, has a white spot under his eyes, is it milia? Or high cholesterol/fatty foods? Advice appreciated

ds has a white spot under his eye, a bit like a whitehead except it isn't.

Googling seems to say either milia (harmless but annoying) or high cholesterol. Any ideas? He's half Indian btw. TIA.

I have had these-mine were under the eye too & were milia & they seem to have gone.I've never had high cholestrol,so I'm afraid I don't know anything about it.

cant help, but i have had one under left eye for years not?, feels like a mole but is white????

foxinsocks · 17/03/2007 20:17

they sound like milia (I've always had those but only recently found out what they are called)

we have very high cholesterol in our family and I think they look in your eyes or for sort of plaque like yellowish stuff around your eyelids or towards the nose side of your eye for any fatty high cholesterol deposits

Thanks you 2, dh said 'what is it?' and seemed to think it was cholesterol he's NOT a doctor so not sure where he got that from and googling is very confusing re cholesterol etc. It is a recent ish thing and although I'm not that worried I do sort of think I ought to have a go at finding out what it is!

Sorry, EX Dh said that,he's ds's father!
It's not in his eye, it's under his eye, below his lower lashes

the cholesterol plaques my dad used to have were towards his nose (like between his eye and nose) and on his eyelids - they look like yellowish lumps rather than spots iywim

Madoldcatlady · 17/03/2007 20:25

Milla are just little dots, a bit like white heads. Cholesterol plaques are much larger and more obvious.

WideWebWitch · 17/03/2007 20:27

Well thank you everyone, I won't worry about it then. It's one little white thing, so I will just stop worrying and see if it goes away. I used to work with an Indian bloke who had quite a few of them.

"chalazion"
google this and see if it may be that.they are small white harmless lumps found in or around the eye.my son had one last year but it was on the inside of the eye(inside the upper eye lid) it was beginning to get very painful for him and the specialist said it had started to calcify and was scratching his eyeball so was unlikely to go away untreated and would just keep on growing,so he had it surgically removed. could be that?if its not affecting the sight though or causing irritation it should be fine.
