me this time, not ds!!

since having ds (10 weeks) i've found going for a poo very very painful. imagine shitting broken glass. quite often afterwards i bleed bright red blood. dh jokes that they sewed me up too tight, but now i'm wondering if that can happen!

how do you know if you have piles???

Sounds like piles to me - speaking from experience! At least I'm assuming that's what I've aquired along with my dd! It will get less painful, and I think with time they can heal all together. Try to eat lots of fruit and drink lots of water.

As for an exact diagnosis, get your mirror out, or send that comical dh of your to have a look!! That said I don't think they are always externally visible. The topics of conversation, post childbirth eh?!

Umm could also be an anal fissure (basically a crack in the walls of your rectum (mmm nice!)

Or if it's piles hcd2.bupa.co.uk/fact_sheets/html/Haemorrhoids.html

Well you did ask.

Happy pooping

lactulose
lactulose
lactulose

that will sort you out. get your poos to the consistency of "tarka dhal" (doctor's expression, not mine)... then ease off it.

gingernut · 18/03/2007 20:10

That's an anal fissure (the pain is usually described exactly as you have below - like passing shards of glass).

see factsheet here .

I know cos I have had one since having ds1 . Mine hardly ever bothers me these days. If I get the slightest bit constipated I take lactulose straight away so I only get the occasional twinge. I think most people do find they heal up completely though.

HTH.

tinkerbellhadpiles · 18/03/2007 20:50

I'd prefer to stick a bottle up my bum* than drink lactulose. Sorry but it's bloody horrid!

Water, soft fruit and light exercise can also help.

lol tinkerbell, lactulose is pretty horrid I agree but not as bad as the pain of a fissure! Sometimes I find dietary measures insufficient (even though I eat lots of soft fruit).
