DD who is 2.5yrs has had diohorea for a couple of days. She hasnt eaten much other than cereal. What should I offer her to eat so it doesnt add to the end effects.

Thanks

Ds had really bad diarrhoea for about 4 days. The doctor said to give low-fat food (cereal is probably quite good like this, as is dry toast) and dioralyte to ensure that they don't become dehydrated. For ds, we had to water his formula down, but I'm guessing at 2.5 years, she probably isn't taking much milk anyway.

Don't worry, it is a self-limiting condition, as long as she is drinking (water best, or milk if still bf). Let her eat cereal - shouldn't do any harm (as long as it isn't All-Bran!)
They say that BRAT - banana, rice, apple, toast are meant to be good avoiding making diarrhoea worse - not sure there is evidence for it though. If it goes on v long or she gets dehydrated go to the GP.

Thanks. She didnt have much for lunch but has just asked for a couple of corn crackers. I think these are probably quite good.
