Smear test

I had a miscarriage as a teenager and I had a smear and pelvic exam done by the gyne in a&e now can i refuse to have one done when I'm 25 the nurse in my doctots surgery scheduled me in even though it's 2 years away can I refuse to go have it done it I still remember the severe horribleness of the last one.

Nobody can force you to have a smear test. But as you're probably aware it's highly advisable to have one.

I agree with kool. As a competent adult you don't have to have any medical procedure or treatment you don't want.

There are good reasons for having smears but it's your decision. Look at all the facts and make your mind up. You don't have to set it in stone now.

You are entitled to refuse but you need to look at your reasons. When you had your miscarriage you were probably very stressed, nervous and uncomfortable. Some people feel like that with a smear test of course but try and find out who is the most patient nurse at your surgery and book with them. Tell them you are very nervous and they should help.
It's not a great experience but the screening could save your life. Much better than cervical cancer...
