How quickly can you get an abortion if you pay?

If you did the test the day of your period and it came up positive and you were happy to pay, when could you get one?

Do you have to wait until they can see something on a scan?

I think the pregnancy has to visible on a scan, just so they can say for definite that it isn't an ectopic. Hope you're okay.

Hiphopopotamus · 10/05/2017 00:42

Really hope you're ok. If you've done a test the day of your period the you're not going to get a termination any quicker than on the NHS. Get to an abortion clinic asap and they'll advise you. I can understand the urge to want it over quickly. Believe me

ValentinaG · 10/05/2017 00:47

I can't stop crying

I begged them to sterilise me, utterly begged them and they wouldn't do it because they dont have the money.

I have 4 DC already. I cannot have another one and now I'm going to have to do this and live with it for the rest of my life.

I'm in pieces, I don't want to wait, I'll change my mind if I do

Hey, I'm also recently pregnant with my fifth baby. Struggling a bit with choice of father. Here to chat whenever x

BertieBotts · 10/05/2017 06:44

You can have a medical abortion with pills very early on. I think 5 or 6 weeks. If they do need to scan they don't have to show you what they see (I've had a 5 week scan and there's nothing baby shaped to see at that point anyway).

Mombie2016 · 10/05/2017 06:54

I did a test on the 3rd and was in Marie Stopes on the 10th taking the pills. Cost around £500. They scanned me but didn't show me, as far as I'm aware they don't show you.

If you are a U.K. Citizen you probably won't have to pay. Call BPAS and have a chat with them. This direct approach is quicker than going to your GP. Hope you are ok op.

manhowdy · 10/05/2017 07:15

I've had one via BPAS at 5 weeks 4 days. It took a week from first call and I needed an internal scan to check not ectopic etc. It involved just pills. All they wanted was ID to show I was entitled to free treatment.

Thank you all

I will call after I've got the kids to school x

Poor you. It's pretty rapid. A few days.

Chocolateteabag · 10/05/2017 12:28

Nothing further to add but Flowers
Hope you can get things sorted quickly.

ValentinaG · 10/05/2017 16:42

I almost don't know what to say but I've just got my period about an hour ago.

I could cry with relief, it must be a very early miscarriage as the positive yesterday was a definite positive.

I feel so so so bloody relieved. Thank you all for your advice xx

I'm glad things have worked out for you op Flowers

monkeyfacegrace · 10/05/2017 17:51

Sorry to add a negative vibe but sometimes you can bleed and still be pregnant. Might be worth taking tests for the next week or so to make sure it becomes negative.

Good luck.

ValentinaG · 10/05/2017 18:01

It's quite heavy and clotty (tmi)

I think it's probably a done deal

Flowers I hope you're okay OP, I know it's the best ending for your situation but it's still absolutely okay to be upset about what you're going through.
