There are serious outbreaks if measles now in the states probably related to the decreased uptake of MMR vaccination. Andrew Wakefield's paper in the Lancet 1998 claiming a link between MMR and autism has been shown since then (by 17 studies in 7 countries) to be without any foundation. Moreover his research methods, it is now proved, were flawed and exploitative. There is a real danger that he now will undermine disease eradication world-wide, as he already has done in the USA. It is easy to access scientific papers to verify what I am saying, I wrote a dissertation on this and found that highly respected researchers around the world will say it is imperative for child health that we voice our rejection of the claims of this self-seeking ex-doctor.
