Forgot to get pre-op blood test. Advice?

Got an operation on Wednesday.
Just realised I was supposed to get blood taken 3-5 days pre-op.
Completely forgot. Will try tomorrow but will they still do the operation do you think? Thanks!

Are you on anti-coagulation? What does the form say? You need to get the bloods done tomorrow and ring the pre assessment clinic.

If you're not on meds such as anti-coagulation then chances are it will be fine. It's just if you need your clotting adjusted that it may be unsafe to operate. Bloods done tomorrow should be available on Wednesday morning unless v unusual. I think you're in with a good chance if it being ok.

Also depends on whether you'll need a planned transfusion during the op (tends to be for only the really major surgery), as cross matching can take a while.
