Anyone who has been sent for one of these when you get the appointment through is that the actual appointment for the procedure of is that just an appointment to see a specialist about one ? Thank you !

Thats Terrible to hear twinset
I know something is not right with me as these symptoms have come out of nowhere and despite being told my Docs it's IBS and to try X,Y and Z all my symptoms are still here almost 5 mths later!
I have been back and forth and probably they are sick of me now but this worry is also eating away at me.
I am going on Friday and even though I feel a complete child I am taking my partner-who will insist on my behalf as I tend to just nod and come away unsatisfied and still worried.
The last Doc I saw even told me that Colonoscopy was too full of risks to warrant sending me!(thanks Doc lets just add more worry onto me)

All the best.

That's awful if she suspected it it should have been 2 weeks ! Do you mind me asking your symptoms ?
My GP has been pretty good but once they found the gallstones don't think she wanted to test any more. I went to see a different gp . I took a long list of symptoms and time scales. She said no that's not gallstones you need a colonoscopy but you don't qualify for 2 week rule.
I have a consultation next week so hopefully they will give me a date there and then.
I have a history of crohns, diverticulitis and bowel cancer in my family so we have dodgy bowels as it is.
I have had chest X-ray, upper abdominal ultrasound , endoscopy , FOB test and numerous blood tests so far. Sure they are sick of me !

Do you have any signs of blood in the stool? I think because I do not this is why they are loathe to send me-however I did do my own FOB test as the Docs said they could not due to my age(i am 39-they only give them out to over 50yrs)this came back pos yet they still tell me its IBS as the test is not very accurate.(especially if done at home from the internet!)
I have had Endoscopy with H pylori check
Abdominal Xray
Celiac screen and full bloods(including CA-125)
Calprotectin stool test
I went private through sheer worry early in the Year and saw a GI Doc whom sent me for a CT Scan
All came back clear.
So maybe a lot of this is in my head-I dunno
However the worry as me in its grips and I am struggling.

worriedme04 sounds like you have been through the mill a bit. I feel like that to.
No sign of blood but I get mucus . Go from constipation to sticky diarrhea. Get low ache, left side pain and left side back ache. I also get very loud sounds going through colon.
My doctor did a rectal examination which was fine and sent me for CA125, awaiting results of that. Then she said let's try colonoscopy might be a bit of diverticulitis. I think because like you said there is no blood and that's a red flag for them.
Hope your partner can get then to refer you . No one wants a colonoscopy they must know that !
I must admit keeping gluten to a minimum helps a tiny bit.
Just got a call from GP receptionist needing to see me RE FBC . But it's non urgent which worries you as you think what is that about .
I am 38,and they keep saying its rare at your age but it's not impossible I've heard of lots of young people getting cancer.

My symptoms didn't come out of nowhere. I have had stomach pains after eating for about 20 years.

My symptoms:
Waves of pain after eating. In particular if I eat a takeout or pizza.
Severe anaemia
Diarrhoea just about all of the time , this gradually got worse.

No blood in stools but have had spotting because of piles. Did have mucus

On a positive note surgery has hopefully cured me of cancer.

VLCos · 10/05/2017 10:44

Tw1nsetAndPearls fingers crossed its gone !
It's difficult because a lot of the bowel illnesses like crohns, UC, Diverticulitis, bowel cancer and IBS have over lapping symptoms.
I guess the only way to find out is the colonoscopy ?!.
I have very low B12,ferritin so trying to up those with the bowel problems is hard work !

I am constantly on supplements for various deficiencies despite a very healthy diet. It's like that game at the funfair where you give one monster a bash and another pops up.

VLCos · 10/05/2017 11:09

No fun at all ! Thanks for the help and comments you have given me I appreciate it :-)

I did have lots of back ache in the beginning but this has gone now, just a dull stomach ache most days.and this damned burping.
Will see what Friday brings at the Docs.
I am also trying a low wheat diet and cut out onions and garlic(doing a sort of FODMAP diet my way)
Hope you get your appointment through soon vlc
Hope your Cancer has gone for good twinset
I also have a read on the Lacies thread from time to time- all superstars on there!

VLCos · 10/05/2017 14:32

Thank you worried I will come back and post. Let me know how you go on !

OP posts:
worriedme04 · 11/05/2017 13:58

Well I did it-The Docs are now sending me for a Colonoscopy-waited almost 5 months for them to agree to send me for one--now they have? Do not want to go!!!
However its best to know once and for all and the constant stomach troubles are worrying me so this is the only way.
Doc did say she was 99.9% sure there would be nothing found! so I do feel a bit of a fraud!

VLCos · 11/05/2017 14:16

Ah no your not a fraud you won't be able to settle until you have had it done ! Best to get it over and done with !
