Ds was given Sterzac for his belly button and that seemed to dry it up immediately. I remember the midwife said it wasn't for long term use, but only used it for a week or so. Might be worth a try.

If she stops gaining weight taker her back. DS2 had an infection in his.

Its possible she might have a granola (sp?) Both DS1 and DD had it. Apparantly it is where a small part of the umbilical cord remains in the belly button. Is there a small raw looking lump? DS1's was quite obvious, so the GP used a chemical swab to cauterise it. DD's one is very deep, you can only see if it you fiddle with her belly button IYGWIM. GP can't do anything, so we're still waiting for an appointment at the hospital. We only found out with DD because of her bellybutton constantly weeping.

We cleared the infection up by cleaning regulary with a cotton bud, and dusting it with cuticura medicated talc - you can't get Sterzac anymore apparently, thats what I asked for!

DS2 had this as well, at 3 weeks the midwife came back and stuck a sliver nitrate stick on it. It an old fashioned way of doing it I think but it cleared up in days, where as before it actually smelt and was green - Ask you HV

silver nitrate worked for us too when dd's re-opened (pink shiny lump - don't know what the technical name is). Fell off like a woodlouse!

Silver nitrate, thats the stuff! When DS1 had it done, the nappy smeared it over his belly, so he had a huge black circle around his belly button! The skin all peeled off, so I would sit there in the evening peeling strips of black skin off his belly, lovely Didn't seem to bother him though.

Nope, don't worry she won't feel a thing.

Glad you've got it sorted!
