Hi my baby boy had his jabs yesterday and I gave him 3 doses of calpol through the day. He slept well last night although a bit whingy. Today he has slept all day and is not taking as much milk as normal, he also has oral thrush which we have some drops for. Should I be worried that he's still sleepy today and off his milk?
Thanks Aimee x

Hi Aimee

When my little one had her 8 week vaccinations, she had a fever and slept a lot for the next day. After that, she was herself again :)

I think the advice is if it continues for more than 5 days, then seek help. However, I would give it 48 hours because I'm a worrier!

Hope that helps x

Thank you :) I think I'll speak to the HV tomorrow if he's still like it x

Yeah definitely. Better to be safe than sorry.

Ring the NHS number too, 111. They always put your mind at ease x

I'm pleased to see this, by coincidence I've posted an almost identical thread this evening. DS is a very sleepy boy this afternoon. Glad it's normal.

It's the men b vaccination which causes the sleepiness and fever.

When we had our 12 week vaccinations, there were no effects at all cause the men b wasn't given.

However, we have the 16 week ones next week, which include the men b.

Not excited :(

Have either of you noticed that bubba doesn't want as much of the bottle as usual? I'm thinking it may be the oral thrush that caused this but as my DS was early with low birth weight I don't want him to start dropping his weight as he is only 7.5lb as it is. X

She fed a little less on the actual day of the vaccinations but was fine after.

How is your little boy now?x

The oral thrush will put him off feeding as its painful for them to suck.

Keep going with the thrush treatment. Use it after feeds and boil wash muslins, bedding and anything milky as it's easy to get reinfected.

Wash .and sterilise bottles, teats, dummies etc. Hope he feels bit better soon.

He's woken up now and seems quite happy in his self but isn't taking his usual amount of milk. I think his mouth is sore, we only got the meds for thrush today and he has been put onto nutramigen formula today also which I have heard they don't like the tAste of so I think it could be a couple of things contributing to him not wanting his milk. I'll see how he goes tomorrow x
