I have a muscle twitching in my thigh. It started last week and went on for 2 days and then stopped and has been back for 2 days. The only thing that stops it is exercise but I cant spend all day and night at the gym. Its driving me insane. Does anyone have any advice?!

My only advice would be not to google! I suffered with various muscles twitching (including thigh) for days / weeks at a time and convinced myself it was something horrible. That was 10 years ago now and I still get the occasional twitch, but they've generally all subsided. I spent 2 years worrying about it, which made it worse. Muscle twitching is very common and can be brought on by excercise, stress or just randomly occur.

Ditto on the not Googling. I keep getting random twitches, we'll they're more like major jerks. I Googled it and its called 'myoclonic jerks' My whole leg or arm will move of its own accord, it's weird. I've just put it down to tiredness and stress. It only seems to happen when I'm relaxed, like sat at my work desk.

Hi. I've gone through quite an intense period of anxiety /stress over the last couple of weeks. I've now developed this twitch it's been on and off for a few weeks now. I started to feel loads better and it went away.... Then I found something else to worry about and it came back. Of course I managed to convince myself I have MND.... Hope your twitching has gone now... Smile

Generally speaking muscle twitching at rest is not a concern and can be caused my many things, including dehydration. With something more serious it would be accompanied by other symptoms, including muscle weakness (clinical weakness not perceived weakness) don't Google it

Hi thanks so much for taking the time to reply. I'm actually feeling much better this week with my anxiety and the twitching has more or less gone. I really think it was down to me feeling so anxious and fearful. Made the mistake of googling many weeks ago and spent the following weeks worrying myself silly and planning my own funeral. Also started seeing a therapist for CBT x

It would seem I spoke to soon!! Leg has been twitching away today. I've turned so paranoid with it which isn't helping 🙁. Going to start taking some magnesium I think x
