Keep an eye on it, I left it a long time before going to docs and am now trying to fight off pneumonia.

Antibiotics, paracetamol and hot ribena

Long soak in the bath always helps mine loosen a bit. Keeping wrapped up warm. Don't lie flat if you can sleep propped up. A great stack of cushions or rolled up spare duvet will help stop the phlem build up over night and keep breathing easier.

Any shortness of breath get intouch with midwife/ GP incase of pregnancy related asthma. I had it with my third and left it a bit late.

Steam. 2/3 hot water, 1/3 cold and towel over your head for a good 15 mins.

Imnotaslimjim · 04/05/2017 23:04

How long have you been ill? I left it too long and developed pleurisy. It was the most painful thing I have ever gone through.

Please go and see your GP and get antibiotics.

  1. The inhaling trick as above
2 the hot drink every hour ( see below) * 3 the garlic, ginger and honey trick** 4 the Vaseline on the feet trick 5 the change of antibiotics trick. 6 the going to hospital and not being let out till better trick.

*2 Chinese and Caribbean traditional medicines both emphasise the importance if garlic and ginger. So, for hot drinks, from the nicest to the yukkiest!

A) toddy. One measure of each of your favourite spirits and fruit juice. Add nutmeg, ginger and cinnamon plus honey to taste. Add boiling water, stir, drink, repeat.

B ginger. Chop root ginger and boil for at least 20 mins. Drink the strained water, sweetened to taste. Repeat ( you can get several boilings out of the ginger).

C likewise with garlic.

**3 chop small or whizz in a food processor a clove or so or garlic, some root ginger. Add honey. If you are brave, take a teaspoonful straight away, if less brave, chill in fridge and then take a teaspoonful.. If not brave at alll, throw away and head for the lemsip.

I get pneumonia /pleurisy relatively often, every time I pick up a bad cold. I managed to stave it off just to chest infection level by 2 this year.

As you are pregnant, leave out the spirits in 2A,
