Joint pain from impact

Hi,
When I do pretty much anything strenuous I get joint pain the next day. I'm really noticing it with gardening at the moment. Making a hole to plant something, hoeing, forking up weeds and roots... My wrists and elbows hurt, mainly. Sometimes my calves, shoulders and back, too.

Any idea why? I'm getting progressively more inactive, because the next day hurts! I'm overweight, but a surely wrists don't hurt because you are overweight?!?

Is it a menopausal thing? Or an underactive thyroid thing? I've always been active (though never thin or very fit).

Thank you Moon!

I'm off to GP Friday anyway, so I'll mention it in case it's related.
