thyroid - Levothyroxine

I've been diagnosed with an under active thyroid and they also found that I'd had graves disease. Been on Levothyroxine 50mg for just over a month and gained 4 pounds, not a huge gain but I'm normally very static in terms of weight. Delighted the extreme exhaustion is going and wondered if anyone else had experienced this?

It could be that your metabolism has slowed even more now you are on a starter dose of levo. You should be tested and levo increased every 6 weeks until your TSH is around 1 and FT4 is high in range. Then you should feel properly medicated and your metabolism will normalise.

Have a look at the Thyroid UK website and forum on healthunlocked. Loads of helpful info. Odd you've been diagnosed with under active thyroid and Graves' disease (which is an autoimmune disease that causes overactive thyroid).
