I was on Dianette (sp?) for my acne years ago

Miaou · 12/03/2007 09:07

Ditto whoops

juicychops · 12/03/2007 09:07

Did it work? Im going doctors in 5 mins and i want to ask to change the pill im on because ive started getting really spotty over the last few months. The pill im on now ive been on for years so would rather not change it but i need to stop being spotty

Um - I think it did make a difference. I was prescribed it for teenage acne which was horrendous and nothing else worked - I seem to remember it had more effect than other things but didn't clear it up completely (which was a disaster afaiwk!!). But my acne was really bad. If you are just "spotty" then maybe it will be sufficient.

In every other way I got on with Dianette fine.

whoopsfallenoveragain · 12/03/2007 09:09

Yes it was the only thing that work for me even rhiaccutane (sp?) which is supposed to clear 99% of acne didn't work yes I am that sodding 1%!!!
I would consider going on it again if I was that good at remembering to take the pill!!

malaleche · 12/03/2007 09:10

dont want open a can of worms but i discovered that being on the pill for years was contributing to what was making me spotty. long story, will post it later if you're interested

expatinscotland · 12/03/2007 09:13

Dianette worked a treat on my spots.

Y0rkshirelass · 12/03/2007 09:15

Would see if you can find the cause of the underlying problem because adult onset acne is often due to hormonal imbalances. In this regard PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) is a common culprit.

Dianette has anti androgenic properties and thus dampens down the problem.

smellymelly · 12/03/2007 10:09

Dianette never worked for me, and went on Roaccutane twice, didn't bloody work either! Dermatologist pretty much gave up with me and said I would have to put up with it till I am probably in my 40's .

Sugarmagnolia · 12/03/2007 11:34

I was on Dianette for about 2 years and it was good. Skin was horrible on every other type of contraceptive pill. Had to come off it eventually, they don't let you stay on it forever.

Hello back from docs.

He said it isn't acne, more like a rash and he doesn't know what to do as the cream he gave me before didn't do anything.

Gotta have a blood test to see if he is missing anything

He doesn't want to change my pill just yet as he doesn't think it will do much as it isn't acne that i have

Gotta put up with being spotty for now
