Anyone's DC had a bad reaction to strawberries?

DS is 18 mths and when he was around 7 months I gave him some strawberry. I turned my head for a second and when I turned back he'd been sick. I stopped giving strawberries just in case. I decided to try again yesterday. I chopped up a strawberry and put it in his weetabix. The first spoonful made him gag after barely a second. He now has a red rash round his mouth. Just wondered if anyone else had experience this and what I should do. TIA

I think you should re-post this on the allergy thread. You will probably get some good advice there from experienced mums. I would think that you probably need to take this seriously and consider getting specialist advice and testing. Allergic reactions tend to get worse with repeated exposure, and it would be better to find out what you are up against in a controlled environment. As they get older it is harder to control what they eat.

Its certainly possible to be allergic to strawberries as one of the little boys at DS's nursery is allergic to them.

My dses get really really red bums when they have strawberries. (sorry if TMI). No idea where they get that allergy from - both dh and I love strawberries.
