HIgh Cortisol levels

DS 21 and sometimes earns money taking part in uni studies. A recent one was on stress, so they took a saliva test for cortisol levels.
He has been told that his cortisol reading was really high which is a possible indication of Cushings disease and to visit his GP.
DS shows no symptoms of Cushings ie no weight gain, and if anything on the thinner side, no more fatigued than most students etc. The test was taken at mid day, whereas i know cushings tests are done in the evening.
They have said it may be a blip, any ideas or experience of what else it may be?
