When did you stop giving your dc Follow on Milk (formula)?

Just wondering when everyone else stopped as my dd2 is 1 next week and she has the Cow & Gate Organic follow on milk, my dd1 stopped having it when she was 2.5 (she had a cup of it before going to bed each night).

there's really no point to follow on milk imo. As long as she has a good diet, you really don't need to be giving her formula after 1 year.

Agree with what quietmouse said 100%. It's a gimick.

Switched to cow's milk just before DS's first birthday. From what I have heard, you only need follow on milk if they dont eat a good and varied diet otherwise. Cow's milk is soooooo much cheaper!

at 12 months - cows milk for DS1

contiued a bit longer with DS2 - had a mixture of cows and formula as he was very well and not a good eater at the time .

usually 12 moths though is the time to finsih the formula

My DS has follow on milk but thats because he is anaemic and waiting for a referral to have it sorted out, there's not enough iron in cows milk. Once I have a proper presciption he will be on cows milk like a shot as I'm bored, bored, bored with making the formula up.

he's 15 months

MrsFish · 10/03/2007 19:46

Cows milk for ds as soon as he turned one, he never batted an eyelid at the changeover

dabihp · 10/03/2007 19:47

dd is nearly 2 and still on forumla follow n, cow n gate yellow, says u can give up tll 24 months. i have treid to get ehr to drink milk and she refuses it, so what can i do? but continue with formula?

Twinklemegan · 10/03/2007 19:49

I haven't started giving DS follow on milk and I don't plan to. He's 7 months, he'll have normal formula to 1 year and then I'll stop the formula altogether and give cow's milk - not a moment too soon IMO.

hillary · 10/03/2007 19:51

dabihp where do you buy the yellow one from??? its discontinued here! cant buy it anywhere! Not that I need it now though.

I changed to cows milk at a year too. I did use follow on milk but only because it was cheaper as it was very often on offer.
