Skin problem c-section scar

I have 2 c-section scars, the last was 15 years ago. Recently the scar area has been very red and inflamed for no apparent reason. I have a bit of a 'flap' or overhang and the skin under it is very sore and angry looking. I've tried sudocrem type creams or baby powder to dry it out but no improvement. I'm embarrassed to go to my gp but looks like I might have to. If anyone has any suggestions of how to treat this I'd be very grateful

It's a fungal infection-daktacort and it will be grand. Wear less sweaty clothes.

I get similar. It's worse if I don't dry myself properly after a shower. A bit of tea -tree oil has helped, but there is cream you can get from the chemist. Can't remember what it's called, but you could ask the pharmacist.

Any kind of antifungal cream or athletes foot cream or spray
Dry with hairdryer after shower and towel drying
Fluconazole tablet

I went to the pharmacy today & they recommended tea tree ointment. It stinks!! Will give it a go though but if no improvement would this be a waste of a gp appointment?

I'd see a gp if it doesn't improve yes.

I get this occasion ally. My c section was 18 years ago. Anti-fungal cream and keeping it as dry as possible are
the only remedies. It used to happen more regularly but I managed to lose quite a bit if weight a couple of years ago and am not sure it's happened since.

Yes my weight is a problem as now taking hrt & have gained a lot since starting it. This is probably why it hasn't happened before

You just need antifungal cream

Get the daktacort, forget the tea tree etc and go for the big guns. You won't regret it, it clears everything up.
