Just taken codeine overdose by accident

Had a screaming migraine. Grabbed a box of migraleve and took two of the pink pills. Only just read instructions and it said not to take more than 1 in 24 hours. Anyone know how serious this is?

what is the dose? I take 60mg of codeine at a time when needed. It might be the buclazine you aren't supposed to take too much of.

If you're over 16 that's the correct dosage.

8mgs of codeine is fine.

I have prescription Codeine @ 30mg each and can take 2 every 4 hours if needed. If it's only 8mg you'll be fine. If you aren't used to it you may be constipated tomorrow. Feel better soon.

You can't overdose on codeine. Your body will only process so much, the rest is waste. Not sure what the correct term is, but that's how I understand it.

Also it looks like you're looking at the child section. The adult section says to take 2 at the start of a migraine so 2 over time is also fine. Don't panic.

Bloody hell spun, get that comment deleted. That's utter bollocks. You need to take a lot but codeine is fatal in overdose.

Two pink migraleve is the correct dose don't worry, hope they help you, I've got a migraine too just taken a sumatriptan

backward it was sensible to ask if you weren't sure, migraines really muddle your thinking don't they.

i think spun means that codeine has a ceiling effect, eg 200mg is useless as only 60mg is therapeutic (hypothetical numbers).

you can overdose on codeine, causing respiratory depression/failure. i think the LD50 is 800mg, although people have died from taking 500mg. so i wouldnt worry about 8mg

I take up to 60mg codeine a day for chronic pain.

If migraines are that bad, you need different medication. Triptans, or preventatives like beta blockers. Amitriptyline or similar can also help.

Does migralieve have another ingredient? Guessing paracetamol or something.
