I had this a few months ago when I was run down and it turned out I was also iron deficient. It has been twitching on and off all bloody day. I am not more or less tired or stressed than normal. It is making me bonkers.

Lilliput, I had an eye twitch continuously for 6 weeks. You've got a looonnnnng way to go before you catch me up.

funnypeculiar · 09/03/2007 21:33

dh gets this a lot when he's tired ... may I recommend a lie-in?!

Biglips · 09/03/2007 21:33

GO TO BED!

MrsPhilipGlenister · 09/03/2007 21:33

I get this when I'm tired. Can you have a nice early night?

sunchowder · 09/03/2007 21:33

Vitamin B Complex (including B12 and B6) will help you. Or...you could eat a jar of marmite...

MrsSpoon · 09/03/2007 21:37

I get this loads. Had it almost constantly for about 9 months during a very stressful period and more recently it has been an almost every day occurance for at least a year.

Interested in what you say about the B vits sunchowder. Do you know what foods B12 and B6 are in? I am useless at taking supplements and would rather have a few nuts or seeds if that would do the trick instead.

Lilliput · 09/03/2007 21:41

I think you are right about the vitamin B12/6, it could be that. Last time it happened I too had it for a good six weeks and it kind of stopped once I sorted my iron levels out.
I know I need to go to bed earlier, I have increasingly bad datk circles under my eyes but I would miss the chat on mumsnet . Maybe it's too my computer screen time on here.

Marmite is full of these vitamins! I believe the best sources are liver and scallops/clams. I am sure there is a list on Google somewhere. Whole Grains are also really good sources.

MrsSpoon · 09/03/2007 21:52

Interesting that it would be linked to an iron deficiency, maybe I should take supplements afterall.

I can see how I could have a B12 and B6 deficiency too, marmite, liver, scallops and clams don't really make it onto my eating list, will have a look on Google for a list of other foods as that would be interesting.

Wow, it's amazing what you find out on MN.

Lilliput · 09/03/2007 22:04

Right that's it, I'm going to bed.
Someone tell me to go to bed.

I get these things aswell and I think that once you start concentrating on them and letting them annoy you it gives them even more nervous energy to fire off. I know its hard but best to try not to think about it and probably the best place is bed.

yellowvan · 09/03/2007 22:08

Go to bed!!!!!!

I had a twitch in my eye last 2 months of pregnancy, (I wear glasses all the time). Went to specsavers to get examined and they said either my prescription had changed or it was due to tiredness. Well my prescription had changed, so I got new lenses for my old frames, and ta-da, it disappeared totally. Get your eyes examined I'd say. If you don't normally wear glasses I'm sorry to say you may need them now.

Lilliput · 10/03/2007 09:10

I should wear glasses for driving but I broke them about 3 years ago and never replaced them, naughty I know .

Forget about all those healthy supplements, have a bag of Doritos. That'll do the trick.

Lilliput · 13/03/2007 20:57

Well, I had an eye test today and I have astigmatism in my left eye so my right eye is overcompensating and getting very tired which is causing the twitching.
Phew! Glad I got to the bottom of it. She said if it didn't stop I could probably get botox to stop it!! I'll see how I get on with the new specs first I think and have also started taking vit B supplement.
