what can cause fast heart rates?

i am used to peters hert problems. but what else can cause them?

Viruses, chest infections, fever?? Has he got a seasonal bug?

THe only reason I mention it is because my Dad had major heart surgery last year and last week had a chest infection which gave him a fast heart rate.

its not peter. its my sister. she has had a really nasty chest infection, and her heart has been fast for a few weeks now. she is having an echo today.
