Corner of mouth feels like its dribbling, but it isn't.

For several days the corner of my mouth has felt like it's wet and dribbling. It isn't. I wipe it all the time and there is nothing there.
It's just one side. The other one is fine. Also when I drink anything, it feels like it's going to spill out of that side of my mouth. Though it never has.

I have googled it (big mistake) and every answer seems to lead to MS.
I tick a few of the other symptoms, but they all have other explanations.

I have vertigo, but that is because I get vertigo migraines.

I have a lot of muscle pain, but that is because I am 6 years post very early menopause.

I have depression and anxiety, DS1 has multiple SEN and I am fighting the council for support.

Anyone know about any of this? I feel like a complete hypochondriac even raising the idea. There is no MS in the family (no idea if this is even relevant)

I had that recently.

I put it down to a side effect of an antihistamine and it seems to have stopped.

Thank you king. I am not on antihistamine but am on quite a lot of medication, newest one was a month ago but will look up side effects of that.

Are any of your meds steroids? They can cause odd sensations around the mouth

KateLennard · 05/04/2017 21:05

Overandabove no steroids. Antidepressants, beta blocker for vertigo, thyroxine for underactive thyroid.

KateLennard did you ever get to the bottom of it?

Sonduch · 08/04/2021 09:03

Hi Kate. Did you find out what was the cause of your dribbling feeling? Thanks

BruceyBaby · 21/03/2022 19:22

Also wondering if you got to the bottom of this at all? My DH has had this sensation for a while now but it's hard getting him to go to the doctors!

Shishboomvaa · 10/03/2023 01:05

I had that....I was having symptoms of trigeminal neuralgia...had terrible sharp burning pain on same side of head. Had infected tooth pulled on bottom and has not returned.

Ooh just bumping this as it happened on Thirsday, I was speaking and suddenly felt like water had appeared at the sides of my mouth. Since then it feels wet - not that raw angular chelitis feel, more like dribbling or wet patches. I'm 50 and in menopause, no meds except HRT.

Both corners of mouth felt wet, tingly, with Lyme's disease 4 years ago... continue to peel from time to time. Weird.

VoniB · 07/12/2024 19:10

I've COPD and take inhalers for few now the corners of my lips are wet but when I wipe the area tissue is dry plus I suffer with chronic trapped wind anyone know what could be causing the issue

OneFrenchEgg · 11/02/2025 21:02

Oh so I have an update. I'm on levothyroxine. Wet corners Google led me to dry mouth Google and then I linked low thyroid (I'm on levithyroxine) and then I linked sugar - ling story short I stopped eating a small bag of haribo (recent habit) every night and it's cleared up .

CraftyGoldMoose · 02/04/2025 22:43

So glad I found this thread as for days now the sensation all down the side of my chin ( only one side) literally feels like I'm dribbling, I'm wiping my chin alot and it's dry , I notice it more at night-time.

56, thyroxine, hrt, pregablin wonder if it's a nerve thing?

SillyTraybake · 19/09/2025 11:13

Just wondering if there is any update one this?
