balanitis - but ds's willy swollen all over, not just end of it??

took ds to a and e last night as he was in pain and his willy was swollen. doctor said balanitis, prescribed penicillin, but have been reading about balanitis and it says it's the end of the willy affected, whereas ds's is swollen kind of all over it, esp in middle. anyone's ds had balanitis? also, he's no discharge and no temp - normal with it? tia. dinny

my ds had ballanitis and it was NOT like that, It hurt when he weed and was red at the tip and he was given topical antibiotic cream.

If it was me I would go to your GP - I think you have been wrongly diagnosed but I have no medical qualifications to say this.

My ds had a swelled penis all over most mostly at the end went into a ball shape. i wasn't told what it was called said it was just an infection.

yes - I am basing this on my ONE experience of ballantitis so I could be right. There is lots of ballnatiis experience on here so someone else may be along soon with a similair thing to yours, keep bumping and call NHS direct.

ds1 has had this, and I think there was swelling all over, but esp at the tip. He didn't have any discharge, so it does sound like it probably is balanitis.
Ds1 responded very quickly to the antibiotics, so if your ds doesn't, I would say go and get him checked out again then

triage nurse and doctor said balanitis straight away. he has antibiotics so I suppose they should work within 24 hrs?

yes - from what the others have said - I was going on my son's experience that was very diffrent, but it fits with the other comments.
