Residual bladder pain post UTI

Long story short, I haven't had any water works problems in 10 maybe 20 years.
I had a bout of Cystitis in Jan confirmed by urine sample and took a course of CanesOasis Cystitis Relief which fixed me up.

Fast forward to know and on monday 13th March i was floored with horrendous bladder and kidney pain. I took another course of CanesOasis Cystitis Relief but it didnt do anything.
Got to the doctors on Monday 20th March and had already put a uring sample in on 13th Monday.
Results were normal, however it was obvious i was in agony. Doc prescribed antibiotics.
I am now five days in of a seven day course and i feel 100% better, my bladder no longer feels like it wants to implode. However, i'm still feeling very 'sore' in my bladder and kidneys.
I have googled it and basically scared the crap out of myself reading up on people who have had a UTI and the suffered for years with weird pains which never went away :(
I'm so terrified and worried that i'll end up like that. Any words of wisdom or reassurance? The Dr will send me for an ultrasound if needed. Am i panicking over nothing? I think i'm panicking over nothing.......

I was in a similar position last year. I had a UTI that lasted three bastard months, all last summer. Never showed much on a dip test other than traces of blood. I had several lots of antibiotics which helped until I stopped taking them then I felt sore again.

In the end I saw a urologist, had a cystoscopy and bladder and kidney scan, was told all normal and sent on my way. The pain in my urethra eventually just subsided and then fully went on its own over the subsequent weeks.

I googled and frightened myself silly. Try not to. It's very common. I think I had an antibiotic resistant infection personally that just went on its own.

I'm in a similar boat.

Had a UTI in November - took the full course of antibiotics but still didn't feel well after wards - urine culture came back normal but I was still prescribed 4 different courses of antibiotics. Had about 6 cultures done since and all come back normal

5 months later my urethra is still extremely painful and I have pressure over my bladder area and I've been told to live with it :-(

I am literally losing my mind with pain and doctors won't help me I've seen 4 gynaecologists, 3 urologists, 2 ultrasounds and an MRI and nothing comes up

Absolutely gutted and I can't see it going away ever :-(

I have been doing loads of research and some people are not having any luck with antibiotics but have had loads of relief using Collodial Silver. Research and then try it, it may just fix you up. It's a natural antibiotic which so far nothing is resistant to. People are raving about it. Apparently you can still have an infection despite the cultures coming back negative. Good Luck. xx

Low dose amitriptyline for the nerve pain and, if you are peri or post menopausal, oestrogen pessaries to calm and soothe your urethra and vagina.
Sorted me out in 24 hours after 3 months of agony and 6 courses of ABx.
It is hell on earth and I had to see someone privately to get ptoper treatment.

I've been tested for menopause as ive also not had a period for 7 months but everything came back normal but I may still ask for the pessaries

The infection may have gone but the lining of your bladder can take a while to recover.
I had a severe infection over 30 years ago and was left with Painful Bladder Syndrome (IC). I had pain and frequency for years.

I know now that this may have been prevented by various things including allowing my bladder to heal, by not eating and drinking certain things for a while. (I can't eat or drink some things now.)

You should avoid all caffeine (tea and coffee), alcohol, fruit juices, fizzy drinks (don't go near Cola) , spicy foods and citric /acid foods like tomatoes, lemons, oranges etc.

Afternoon if you are menopausal it may well be caused by lack of oestrogen. You need vaginal oestrogen- cream or a pessary which may work but give it 3-6 months for the full benefits.

I saw a urogynaecologist. Via google. She diagnosed me in about 3 minutes. After 3 months of to-ing and fro-ing to gp who was lovely but baffled.
Best money I have ever spent.

It was a urogynaecologist I saw the second time but she was totally at a loss as to what it was. I have asked each and every time if it could be hormone related and they all said not a chance but I'm going to beg my gp to let me try some oestogen cream/pessaries at my next appointment.

Same boat. It's been well over a month now. All tests showed no infection even though I was in agony, pissing lots of blood and wee was all cloudy. 3 courses of anti biotics and I still don't feel right. Some days I feel fine and think it's gone , next day I feel it again and wee is cloudy again.

Current urine culture tests are very inaccurate and miss up to 50% of infections. I was infected with a UTI from a catheter during childbirth, 6 NHS urine samples only one turned up positive with a very resistant bacterial strain, I am now in treatment with a fantastic specialist who diagnosed infection straight away and has really helped me. Just letting you ladies know get tested for ureaplasma - get prescribed antibiotics doxycycline mono hydrate please and do yourself a favor from pain- I still have pain subtly but my infection is pretty much gone - I was getting Bacterial Vaginitis for 6 months back to back treated w flagyl over and over and finally that went away and then I was diagnosed w ureaplasma - get tested for it because it causes stinging pee which can mimic a bladder infection or UTI and causes inflammation - gyno usually won’t test for it but mine did - be persistent
