Dental fillings

I wondered if anyone could give me some advice regarding dental fillings. I have silver fillings but understand that they are not great for health because of the mercury in them.

One of them needs to be replaced and I have the option to stick with silver which costs about £16 or to get a white filling which will cost £108.

Is it worth paying the extra for white or is the silver okay? I am interested for the long term health aspect and not cosmetic reasons. I

I replaced mine gradually over years/decades. If a filling needed replacing I asked for a white one. That spread the cost too.
